For authors


The periodical 'Political Sciences' publishes scientific texts, original theoretical and research studies that match the character of periodical. It concentrates on the field of politics, modern history, international relations and security studies. There are four numbers of the journal published yearly, two are in English language (No. 2 and 4) and two in Slovak language (No. 1 and 3)
The periodical 'Political Sciences' accepts submitted manuscript for arbitration only if it fulfills the formal criterions of scientific text and also the formal arrangements that are referred in "For Authors". The advisory board of the periodical decides upon the final acceptance of the scientific text. The decision is based on the results of previous arbitration. The manuscripts are reviewed in anonymous arbitration by at least two reviewers. If the reviews significantly diverge, the executive editors appoint a third reviewer.
Dealing with contributions is in accordance with Ethical standards of the journal Political Science, which regulate relations among all participating parties in publication process: authors, the journal (publisher and editorial bodies), reviewers.

The length and form of the article
Please send your manuscripts to the following address either in two printed copies together with a CD (most preferable in MS Word 1997-2013 format) or to the e-mail address: politicke.vedy@umb.sk
The maximum number of pages in section Studies is 16-20 pages (minimum 36 000 characters including spaces), in section Review it is 4-8 pages, and in section Information to 2-5 pages based on formal arrangements stated in "For Authors".
At the end of each text every author is asked to provide a contact address that includes the address of the institution the author works for together with position, phone number and e-mail contact.
In section Studies the abstract in English language needs to be included (10-12 lines, 5-8 key words). The mane of the author should be emphasized with the bold font. All the names included in the text of the article should be emphasize with bold font and all the important sections of the article in italic. The text should be divided into chapters. (See the enclosed template at the end of this document)

Copyrights
Authors of the those texts that have been accepted for publication agree with the on-line publication of their texts on the periodical's 'Political Science' web page and they sign the "License agreement". The Journal Political Science reserves the right to edit received manuscripts.

Deadlines
The author obtains a notification on the inclusion of her/his manuscript to the process of critical review and the outcome of the reviewing procedure generally in 2-3 month from the day of the submission of the contribution.
Deadline for receiving contributions to the journal has these rules: the Septemebr 15th is the deadline for submission of those contributions that are going to be published in No. 1 edition of the upcoming calendar year. The December 15th is the deadline for submission of those contributions that are going to be published in No. 2 edition of the upcoming calendar year. The March 15th is the deadline for submission of those contributions that are going to be published in No. 3 edition of the actual calendar year. The June 15th is the deadline for submission of those contributions that are going to be published in No. 4 edition of the actual calendar year.

Template for bibliography and resources
The reference to any bibliography (quotations, paraphrases) is placed in that part of the text where author is relating to the used bibliography. The quotation (paraphrases) serves as a connection of the quoted/paraphrased information with the particular used source. This record is a part of the list of bibliography placed at the end of the article. The commentaries' placed in a footnote can be also used in the text.
The quoted or paraphrased lines are due to be placed within the text followed; in a case of quotation with (Katuscak, 1998, pp. 3) or in a case of paraphrases with (Katuscak, 1998). More publications of the same author published in the same year are distinguished by adding a lowercase letter as (Katuscak, 1998a, pp. 87) (Katuscak, 1998b, pp. 89). This identification is preserved in the list of used bibliography. In the case of quotation of sources without an identified author, quotation of the information from a web pages or daily newspapers, weeklies etc. the title of the article is used in a way to be identified in the list of bibliography (First Steps: A Manual...., 1996) or (European Commission). Official documents and declarations are listed with their full name (Universal Declaration of Human rights, 1948) the source of the document is listed in the list of bibliography.

Template of the list of bibliography
The alphabetically ordered list of the used literature should be stated at the end of the text under a title Bibliography. The list is alphabetised according to the family names of authors without a numbering of the listings. Please follow the style of the list of literature as stated in the following example.

The font used for the whole test is Times New Roman, size 12, with the 1.5 space line spacing, with justify horizontal alignment, the documents margins are set for 2.5 cm, the indentation of first line is 1.25 cm. to emphasize part of the text, the italic is used. Names (J. Novotny) are written in bold. The references to the bibliography are used according to the template placed above. The commentaries placed in footnote can be used in the text.
